The Internet. Thirty-five years ago we rejoiced at mail call. Mail (as in written letters). The process was lengthy. I would sit in the dimly lit corner of my room and write to an audience half-way around the world. Three weeks later I might expect a response. On only two occasions can I remember using a phone and it was awkward. (Standing in line to get a line. No line. No call.)
Internet is instant communication. The concept did not exist when I was in India. And today the world is much smaller. Whether that is good or bad is debatable, but that is not the topic of our conversation.
But a fond memory is mailing a letter from India on a whim with an address of "54949 USA". I don't know what possessed me to do so, but the letter made it to my family in Manawa. (The fact that Bob Conroy was our mailman had something to do with it.)
Let us know about your classes and your LSAT scores. It is always a delight to hear from you.
